2018 Seattle Dragonslayer Walk to End Sarcoma
EVENT DATE: Apr 28, 2018
Every year more than 2,000 people affected by sarcoma gather together to support each other and raise funds to end sarcoma.
Dragonslayer started in Seattle in 2004 and has grown every year since, adding a Portland event in 2008. The event features teams that are organized around our Dragonslayers, people who have fought the sarcoma dragon. Some teams walk in memory of lost loved ones. Other teams walk in support of someone currently in treatment, while others walk to celebrate their survival.
Teams work to achieve fundraising goals as well. Funds raised at Dragonslayer go to support sarcoma treatment research, as well as to provide financial assistance grants to more 200 families every year.
Food - We'll have coffee, tea, and plenty of breakfast goodies for your team when you arrive. All our food is donated by board members.
Program - Our pre-event program features stories from some of our teams, updates from doctors, a bubble blowing ceremony to remember lost loved ones, and a rallying cry to get energized before the walk.
Raffle & Merchandise - We'll have tons of raffle items to look at, some made by the Dragonslayer teams. You can place your tickets in the buckets for the items you want to try and win. We also have a lot of merchandise to look at, and all proceeds go to fund our patient support and outreach programs.
Team Signs & Standards - Most teams bring a sign to identify themselves and carry for the walk. We'll have a sign making station where you can make or embellish your sign, and even attach it to a post to carry with!
After Party - Stay after the event to enjoy food from food trucks (or bring your own!), live music, and a chance to connect with others affected by sarcoma. We'll be taking photos, interviewing participants, and several other nonprofits will have booths to check out.
