Here we go!
April 24, 2017
BENEFITING: BRIGHT PINK
ORGANIZER: BRIGHT PINK
EVENT DATE: Oct 08, 2017
It's crazy to think that even today, with so many technological and medical advances, so many of us have witnessed first-hand the devastating effects of breast and ovarian cancer - not only on the women they plague, but on their friends and families as well.
I know how completely useless it can feel to sit on the sidelines while a loved one bravely digs deep to find the courage to battle through their most difficult days. I've found myself anxiously wrestling with cyclical thoughts like "I wish there was something I could do!"
While I can't take away the pain and fear experienced by the victims and survivors of cancer -- or the helpless terror that flips their loved ones' worlds upside down -- together we CAN work towards a future where no one else shares this experience.
For my small part I'll be running the 2017 Bank of America Chicago Marathon as a member of team Bright Pink, the only national non-profit focused on prevention and early detection in young women, and I hope that you'll consider supporting my fundraising efforts. Together, we can create a world in which fewer women die from breast and ovarian cancer.
Gifts of any size can make a positive impact - just $2.50 can empower education for one woman. $50 helps teach 20 women better breast and ovarian health basics for prevention and early detection. $100 helps train a Women's Health Provider to deliver better preventative care through risk assessment and management.
In exchange for your generosity, I will send you one of the photos linked here: https://goo.gl/photos/mCFCzUmb3A93e5Dy5 which were taken on a trip I'm grateful to have experienced. I hope they serve to remind you, as they do me, to grab life by the horns. Be brave. Do something crazy. And give yourself a little more credit, because you are stronger than you think.
To respect their privacy, I won't tag or name anyone here - I'll just say this: I'm so very thankful to have so many amazingly strong and resilient women in my life. I love you all!
Thank you for your time, and for your support.
