Dear Family and Friends,
Next month I will be traveling to Poland to explore my family roots. As many of you know, both my parents are survivors of the Holocaust from Poland. It has taken many years for me to prepare for this trip and I do so with both trepidation and great interest. It will be difficult to visit the places of destruction that shaped my family history but also an important route to connection and understanding. As part of this journey, my husband, Steve, and my son, Benjamin, and I will be participating in the Ride for the Living. This bike ride is the third annual fundraising event for the Krakow JCC.
The Jewish Community Centre in Krakow is rebuilding a Jewish community that was almost completely destroyed by the Holocaust and driven underground for 45 years during communism. With over 600 Jewish members, the JCC now serves as the focal point of the rebirth of Jewish life in Poland.
On June 3rd, we will cycle 55-miles from Auschwitz-Birkenau to JCC Krakow to celebrate and support the miraculous rebirth of Jewish life in Poland today. We will ride from the ashes of the concentration camps to the JCC, where we will be met by the vibrant and thriving Jewish community of Krakow.
Please consider supporting our fundraising efforts. Your donation will support ongoing programming for all generations in the community including Holocaust survivors, students, and children. All donations collected will go directly to the Krakow JCC.

Thank you for your support and helping the JCC Krakow in their mission to re-build a Jewish future in Krakow. The resilience of the Jewish people speaks volumes not only to our faith but to humans around the world who survive, and re-build their lives with hope in the future.

Ride For the Living is an annual fundraising event under the patronage of Chief Rabbi of Poland, Michael Schudrich. The 55-mile bicycle ride from Auschwitz-Birkenau to JCC Krakow is a journey to not only remember Jewish history, but to celebrate and support the miraculous rebirth of Jewish life in Poland today.
The 2016 Ride For The Living will take place from June 2-5, 2016. Ride For The Living consists of 4 days of educational programs, tours of Krakow, Shabbat dinner with the community, and the highlight of event, the bike ride on June 3, 2016.
Ride For The Living was inspired by JCC Krakow member Robert Desmond who rode his bicycle 1,350 miles from London to Auschwitz visiting WWII sites of liberation along his journey. After joining the JCC and becoming an active member, he realized his ride should not end in a place of loss, but rather at a place of hope and renewal, JCC Krakow! Join the Jewish community and friends from around the world by riding or donating today.
