Dear friends and family,
Marc and I are biking from Auschwitz-Birkenau to the JCC Krakow on June 3rd. It’s a ride from a place of horrific destruction to a place of hope and renewal. I am writing to you to support our ride to benefit the JCC Krakow, an organization that has been the catalyst for this renewal and preservation of Jewish life in Krakow. Our involvement stems from Michelle's family being Holocaust survivors from Poland (her dad was from Krakow). We have all visited Krakow with Celia, as well as her hometown of Dubienka. After the loss from the Holocaust, Marc and I are glad to take part in the rebirth of Jewish life in Krakow.
Here's the write up from the JCC Krakow: Ride For the Living is an annual fundraising event under the patronage of Chief Rabbi of Poland, Michael Schudrich. The 55-mile bicycle ride from Auschwitz-Birkenau to JCC Krakow is a journey to not only remember Jewish history, but to celebrate and support the miraculous rebirth of Jewish life in Poland today.
The 2016 Ride For The Living will take place from June 2-5, 2016. Ride For The Living consists of 3 days of educational programs, tours of Krakow, Shabbat dinner with the community, and the highlight of event, the bike ride on June 3, 2016.
