EVENT DATE: Apr 02, 2016
On April 2, 2016 CT Walks for Haiti will sponsor its 7th annual 2.5 mile walkathon through West Hartford Center and Blue Back Square. Everybody's favorite weatherman Joe Furey will join us for a festival of Haitian food, crafts, music and a silent auction featuring an awesome Red Sox package! Festivities begin at 10:30 and the walk starts at noon at St. Peter Claver located at 47 Pleasant St, West Hartford, CT 06107.
This event raises money for five well-established 501(c)(3) Haitian charities. We hope to fund these projects:
The Haitian Health Foundation-$4,000 to feed malnourished pregnant women and their young children.
Outreach to Haiti-$4,000 for a comprehensive nutrition program to provide food and vaccinations to malnourished infants and children under 5.
Haitian Humanitarian Network-$4,000 to develop a medical outreach program to remote areas too far to travel to clinic.
Medical Aid to Haiti-$4,000 to pay the annual salary for a Haitian nurse for the mobile clinic.
Operation Unisson-$4,000 for summer camp providing critical health instruction to children, along with a meal (likely their only meal of the day).
