BENEFITING: BRIGHT PINK
ORGANIZER: BRIGHT PINK
EVENT DATE: Oct 09, 2016
So, I have to "modify" this just a tad... it seems that 2 days after I signed up for my “Threepeat” I had a small accident that rendered running this race slightly impossible this year... so what is a girl to do?? Throw her own "MiniMarathon" of course!!!
Here is what you need to know!
- When - September 17, 2016 at 9:00 am
- Where - Omaha's Cancer Survivor Park
- How Far - You better start training - 26.2 steps!!! Start laughing now!!!
All donations guarantee you a registration ;) What you get with that registration is still to be determined. LOL But you still know that the $$ goes towards funding the lifesaving information - that I help present!!
Anything under the dotted line was the FIRST go round BEFORE the injury!! LOL (but I thought you might like to know why anyone would want to run a marthon three times in a row!)
This is my third time running the Chicago Marathon for Bright Pink, and every year I get more excited. More excited to put on the training miles? No, not really… but more excited to dedicate my runs to those who have battled Breast or Ovarian cancer, or to someone who has a family member or friend who has been impacted, or maybe it is just that one person I was able to reach as a Bright Pink Education Ambassador.
This first started as my own personal journey with the BRCA 1 mutation, losing my own mother to cancer, and trying to discover what having a genetic predisposing could mean to my children. But it has grown into such an amazing journey. Your donations to Bright Pink help fund their education materials, such as the ones I hand out, as one of their volunteer Education Ambassadors, during the Brighten Up presentations. Last year I reached almost 1,000 individuals in Omaha alone with these presentations and my goal is to shatter that number in 2016!
As I have done in the past, if you would like to donate in honor or support of someone, it would be my honor to put their name on my 26.2 headband during the race. I know it does not sound like a lot, but people ask me “What do you think about during the race? And I tell them, I think about the names on that headband, and why I am really running.” Because together, we can do anything!
Thank you for all of your continued love and support.
