BENEFITING: American Jewish World Service
ORGANIZER: American Jewish World Service
EVENT DATE: May 01, 2016
I need your support! On May 1 I will join the AJWS 5 Boro Bike team on a cycling journey to raise money and support AJWS’s work to end poverty and advance human rights in the developing world.
I am biking around Prospect Park, Central Park and (via CitiBike) the streets of Manhattan to prepare, and now I am asking for your support. Many of you generously contributed to my 2015 ride–which was an incredible experience–and I hope you will do so again.
In December I had the opportunity to travel with AJWS to Cambodia [see photo!] and meet many of AJWS’s partners and leaders there. Among others, I met with garment workers fighting for fair wages and safe work conditions and indigenous communities defending the right to their land. Many of them are putting their lives as risk and it was an inspiration to meet them and hear their stories. This is why I am writing you today. I am committed to raising money so that AJWS can continue its critical work of supporting grassroots and global human rights organizations in Africa, Asia and the Americas like the ones I met in Cambodia.
Please help me help me raise $3,000 to support AJWS’s critical work by donating.
My sincere thanks for your support!!
Inspired by the Jewish commitment to justice, American Jewish World Service (AJWS) works to realize human rights and end poverty in the developing world. AJWS advances the rights of women, girls and LGBTI people; promotes recovery from conflict, disasters and oppression; and defends access to food, land and livelihoods. AJWS pursues lasting change by supporting grassroots and global human rights organizations in Africa, Asia and the Americas and by mobilizing supporters in the U.S. to advocate for global justice. Working together, the AJWS community strives to build a more just and equitable world.
By supporting our team's efforts, you help AJWS secure basic human rights that are the roots of poverty and injustice in the developing world.
