EVENT: 2015 Chicago Marathon
EVENT DATE: Oct 11, 2015
Travis Cuckler is a graduate from VanderCook College of Music (BMEd '12). Travis is from a small town in southern Ohio and moved to Chicago to pursue his degree. Travis was inspired to become a music educator because of his music teachers (also VanderCook Alumni), who saw a passion for music, fostered it, and recommended Travis to attend VanderCook. After a rigorous four years Travis is now a proud graduate and sharing his passion of music everyday with his own students.
Travis works on the southeast side of Chicago in one of the largest CPS elementary school. Travis is the 5th through 8th grade general music teacher, the 4th through 8th grade band director, and the 4th through 8th grade orchestra director.
On top of teaching, Travis also serves as the Assistant Director for the Lakeside Pride Marching Band, plays trumpet in the Lakeside Pride Symphonic Band, and is one of the founding members of the Lakeside Pride Brass Quintet.
Without VanderCook, none of this would be possible. VanderCook prepared Travis to take on any type of ensemble whether it be general music, band, orchestra, or choir. Not only has VanderCook has given Travis the knowledge to teach any type of music, they have prepared him to build his own program from the ground up, to not only teach the students music but foster a lifelong love for music and music making.
Travis' greatest accomplishment came this year when two of his students came to him and told him that they wanted to become music teachers because of him. That is what VanderCook is about, to share your passion so that others will want to do the same.
I am asking that you donate to my fundraiser to support VanderCook College of Music, with your support, VanderCook can continue to create passionate and well prepared music educators.
