2014 Unbound Project
EVENT DATE: Sep 07, 2014
This is a unique project that addresses one of the world’s greatest human rights issue – human trafficking. Due to the heinous nature of human trafficking, building awareness about this issue is often unattractive. The topic of human trafficking is disturbing and often may emotionally paralyze the general public. Recognizing that the creative arts are universally appealing, we plan to use creative means to communicate poignant themes related to human trafficking, as well as raise funds for the Michigan Abolitionist Project.
The project will engage Michigan artists in creating a collection of music and art unique to this project. It includes recording and producing a CD of original work, a limited edition album, publishing a special edition of MAP’s Unbound Magazine, creation of art pieces, a photographic exhibit, and a finale celebration-event (Sunday, September 7, 2014 at the Crofoot in Pontiac MI) to release the CD, highlight the creative work, and auction the art.
During the project, our artists will be introduced to the stories about real victims and survivors in Michigan. These stories will inspire their work, and we hope their work will educate and inspire our community. The funds raised for all these creative projects will go towards developing programs and community-focused projects aimed to end human trafficking in Michigan and beyond.
