On Sunday, April 27, my family and I will be participating in the OUR HOUSE Run for Hope, as we have for the last eleven years. You may think this event would be melancholy given the nature of the experience that unites those of us participating. This couldn't be farther from the truth. The Run for Hope is just as the name connotes, an event which does not dwell on sadness and grief. Rather, the focus is on gathering together to overcome the challenges grief poses, generate hope, and cherish the memories of the loved ones we have lost. My Dad died eleven years ago when I was five years old. I am now a teen leader in a group for seven and eight year olds who have experienced the loss of a parent just as I have and this year I will run with them. Grief became a part of our lives much too early, ending our innocence and changing everything for us. I hope you will sponsor me, and make a generous donation so that Our House can continue to help the children in my group and all children and adults and families who have gone through this awful experience. Thank you very much.
