We believe communities are made of people, not buildings. That's why we've been serving Muslims in Kanata since 2005 without a permanent home, alhamdulillah.
Now, our rapidly-growing community desperately needs your support to establish a permanent home to worship, play, study and socialize.
Here's what we've done since last Ramadan through Allah's Grace and with your support:
*Organized Friday prayer services in rental facilities for over 600 worshipers weekly featuring relevant sermons
*Educated over 400 children through the Hikmah Saturday School and Al-Madinah Quran School in rented school facilities
*Held over 45 sessions of various educational programs for adults, families and youth featuring teachings from the Qur'an and Sunnah, presented in a relevant manner
*Organized the very first event in our riding featuring local election candidates during the last federal election
*Established positive relationships with local faith communities and civic & political leaders
*Helped present the Islamic perspective on Physician-Assisted Dying in Parliament to MPs and Senators
*Encouraged neighbourliness by designing and printing hundreds of Eid postcards to be given to neighbours with Eid gifts
*Organized nightly taraweeh prayers and other overnight programs in Ramadan
*Facilitated serving of over 800 Ramadan meals by generous sponsors for our community
*Assisted in delivering cultural & religious competency training across the city to sponsors of Syrian refugees
*Jointly sponsored a Syrian refugee family with a local church and assisted other refugee sponsorship groups
*Prepared over 200 spiritual care welcome packages for newly-arrived Muslim Syrian refugee families in conjunction with other masajid
*Worked with other masajid to raise over $100,000 for Fort McMurray Fire Relief and CHEO
*Helped numerous individuals and families deal with crises and personal challenges by providing spiritual counsel
*Provided financial and human resources to joint initiatives with other masajid, such as the annual iLead Conference that hosted over 2,000 attendees this year ...and much more!
Alhamdulillah, we've managed to do all this without a permanent home, but we can't continue like this much longer.
For the past year, we've been working hard to establish Kanata's first Masjid and Muslim Community Centre. We're getting closer but we can't do it without Allah's help and your continued support. We need your involvement, financial support and du'as to achieve our goal.
Please support the Kanata Muslim Association by making a financial investment into our community and your Hereafter.
Your generous support will help us continue offering vital services to your community and enable us to finalize an offer to secure land for your future Masjid and Community Centre, inshaa Allah!
