100 Miles for RTC Scholars College Fund
Organized by: Danielle Theberge
Everybody out there is trying to raise money and "change the world" - I get it, it's tough and frustrating to choose who deserves your thought and donation. That's why I've not entered into such an endeavor before, but Raise The Children was paradigm-shifting.
The Tiger Kloof fundraising walk to Botswana was well placed at the end of my year in South Africa. I wanted to raise support for my kids and figure walking 100 miles through the remote bush could help bring some excitement. I have gotten to know my four RTC scholars at Tiger Kloof exceptionally well. I have studied and stressed about big tests with them, disciplined them as sometimes needs to be done with teenagers and even cried with them. I have seen so much potential and I know they can achieve great things if given the opportunity. All your donations will go into a college fund split equally between the four through Raise the Children.
There’s a defining concept here known as Ubuntu. The translation roughly means I am because you are. South African’s use this short phrase to sum up how interconnected each of us are—a person is a person through other people. It is to be selfless and kind in recognition of our humanity in one another.
Should you feel connected to this cause, please feel free to donate at absolutely any level you are comfortable. Keeping fingers crossed and embracing Ubuntu, I hope you'll partake in helping my kids reach their dreams. Thank you kindly for your time and support!
RTC is a tax-deductible organization. If you would like more information, please email me. It works great for business donations too if that interests you.
